What is YUSSR’s full name?
Our legal name is Yeshiva and University Students for the Spiritual
Revival of Soviet Jewry, Inc. In the U.S., we are commonly referred
to by our acronym, YUSSR. Throughout Europe and Israel , we are frequently
called "Lech Lecha." Regardless of how people abbreviate
our name, we remain committed to one mission: to create a positive
Jewish experience for Jews of the FSU in Belarus, Israel and the United
States.
Is YUSSR a non-profit organization?
Yes, YUSSR is a non-profit organization and is registered as a 501(c)(3)
organization in the United States of America. All donations made to
YUSSR by American citizens and Green Card residents are tax deductible.
What countries does YUSSR work in?
Currently YUSSR operations are focused in Belarus, Germany and Israel.
Do you also sponsor programs in the United States and Canada?
No. Our programs are targeted to fulfill YUSSR’s mission of rebuilding
an infrastructure in the FSU and help with the acclimation in Israel
and Germany.
How can I volunteer or work for the YUSSR?
There are volunteer opportunities for our holiday programs and our
winter and summer camps. To learn more about these programs, please

How can I donate to YUSSR?

How old must a volunteer be for our holiday/camp program?
Our volunteers are all college age or post college age. Currently,
Our Shavuot Experience is our only high school age program.
What is the contribution to attend?
The tax-deductible contribution for the program must be handed
in before the program departure. The contribution is $1800 for
each
program.
YUSSR is a tax-exempt organization and contributions to it are
tax-deductible to the extent provided by law.
Where do the volunteers stay?
Traditionally, for our holiday programs the volunteers are hosed
in rented apartments. Our camp programs provide dormitory style
housing. Each student should be aware that some housing arrangements
will
be
more rustic than others. Details concerning living accommodations
will be sent to each participating student.
